CMU Tech Celebrates Opening of Clifton Community Campus

CMU Board Chair Joins Grand Opening Ceremony

CMU Board of Trustees Chair Tim Fry joined Mesa County and community leaders who gathered on Saturday, June 22nd to facilitate the Grand Opening of the Clifton Community Campus. Officials focused on the collective positive impact the center will bring when it comes to providing education, services and resources to the residents of Clifton.

The Clifton Community Campus will serve as a local gathering place and includes the Clifton Community Center, Clifton Childcare Center, Early Childhood Education Center and Training, and the Clifton Library Branch – a collection of spaces meant to enhance community services and fill a community need. CMU Tech will offer educational programming at the center in order to improve access to education by eliminating a need for those living on the east end of the Grand Valley to commute.

The Clifton Community Center has reserved classroom spaces for CMU Tech, home to future courses catered to working adults seeking educational opportunities after hours and on weekends. On the west side of the building, community members will look forward to engaging with CMU Tech’s fleet of Mobile Learning Labs – serving mechatronics, welding and healthcare professionals. The Center has already welcomed an array of CMU Tech summer camps, including filmmaking, culinary arts, STEM and more.

CMU's contribution and joint efforts with Mesa County and other agencies demonstrated alignment between the values of CMU and the partnering agencies.

"Colorado Mesa University offers an opportunity for a better life through education," said CMU President John Marshall. "We do this in a variety of ways and our role in this partnership was crafted with the specific and unique needs of Clifton residents in mind."
